Attendees of II International Symposium on Islamic Civilization in Caucasia visited AIT

The attendees of the 2nd International Symposium on Islamic Civilization in Caucasia visited Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) on July 10, 2019.

AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction with their visit to the Institute. The Rector mentioned the inimitable efforts of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of stability in the country and preservation of tolerance among members of different confessions.

Jeyhun Mammadov noted that the religious policy implemented by national leader Heydar Aliyev to improve state-religion relations is currently pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that the establishment of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology is a logical continuation of this successful policy.

Speaking about the Institute, the Rector stressed that education at the Institute is tuition-free. Students are provided with free textbooks, food, uniforms and dormitory expenses.
AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov stressed that history and belief system of all religions are taught at the Institite. At the same time, English and Arabic are taught with modern methods based on the development of four language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing).

The Rector noted that the Institute is interested in establishing relations with higher education institutions. Emphasizing that agreements were signed with many foreign higher education institutions specialized in the field of theology, the Rector noted that the main goal is to study the teaching methods and experience through mutual exchange programs.

The symposium attendees expressed their gratitude for sincere welcome to the AIT administration. They also noted that they witnessed the existence of a tolerant atmosphere in Azerbaijan. It was stressed that the consistent policy pursued in the context of existing religious tolerance and intercultural dialogue in Azerbaijan is not accidental as an example to the world. They expressed their appreciation about the establishment of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology as well as the study of all religions at the Institute.

The guests further familiarized themselves with Azerbaijan Institute of Theology. The activities of AIT were discussed comprehensively. It was noted that the classes were taught with modern equipments. The symposium attendees visited the AIT library and were informed about the availability of more than 16000 books.

The parties discussed future cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
