AIT department chair delivered a speech at UNEC

Ahmed Niyazov, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT), participated in the academic seminar on Islamic Economics, Social Justice and Multicultural Values organized jointly by Business and Management Faculty of Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC) and Meybullayev Islamic Economic Center.

Associate Professor Miragha Ahmadov, Dean of the Business and Management Faculty, emphasized the relevance of the seminar and noted that Islamic values have always been protected and promoted in the country. These values are based on history, traditions, national mentality, culture and other factors.

Emphasizing that Islamic economics is regulated on the basis of social justice in the community, Ahmed Niyazov noted that human factor is in the center of this. He noted that behaving kindly and caringly towards the orphans, poor and the needy should be responsibility of individuals. Speaking about rituals such as zakat, khums, al-Fitr, alms, and kaffarah, Ahmed Niyazov said that these rituals are aimed at improving well-being of the needy.

Emiliya Ahmedova, Instructor of Business and Management faculty at UNEC, delivered a speech on Global Islamic Economics highlighting growing interest in the Islamic economy and the factors conducive to it.

Associate Professor Sarvinaz Khanzada, Head of Meybullayev Islamic Economic Center, said that the primary goal of Islam is to eliminate poverty and improve people’s wellbeing. She also noted that the protection of social justice is considered the most important factor in the Islamic economy.
