History and Mission

History

The Department of Islamic Studies was established on September 13, 2018. It is one of the main educational departments in the Institute which is involved in teaching the subjects such as the Quran, theology, the hadith, the Islamic morality, the Tafseer, Fiqh, the Islamic law, Kalam, and training of students, raising their qualifications and conducting educational work among students.

The department provides training of high level specialists with bachelor of arts degree in the field of Islamic studies. It is one of the major leading departments. The work of the department is based on the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Statute approved by the Ministry of Education and the Charter of the Higher Institute of Theology of Azerbaijan.

The department organizes teaching of various subjects for the preparation of future specialists. The subjects are taught by highly qualified specialists. Various technical means and techniques of modern teaching are used to improve the teaching quality of the subjects and efficiency of the teaching process.

The primary goal of the department is to educate students who will ensure the preservation and development of the high religious and spiritual environment, which is a logical consequence of the state policy, protect the national spiritual and universal values, have the power to understand the religious terminology, prevent alienation of young people to our culture, respect people from the other religions and belief systems and are active in enlightening scientific research activities.

Mission
Our mission as the department of Islamic Studies is to educate students who will ensure the preservation and development of the high religious and spiritual environment, which is a logical consequence of the state policy, protect the national spiritual and universal values, have the power to understand the religious terminology, prevent alienation of young people to our culture, respect people from the other religions and belief systems and are active in enlightening scientific research activities.
