Egyptian delegation visited Azerbaijan Institute of Theology

Al-Sayyid Mahmoud Al-Sharif, First deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Egypt; Usama Al-Azhari, Advisor for Religious Affairs; Usama Al Abd, Head of the Religious and Endowments Affairs Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, Former President of Al-Azhar University and Seymur Nasirov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Organizations Association, who attend the 2nd Baku Summit of World Religious Leaders, visited Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT).

Welcoming the guests, AIT rector Jeyhun Mammadov mentioned the high level of relations between two countries. The Rector informed the guests about the Institute and emphasized that the Institute attaches particular importance to establishing international relations with different institutions including Egyptian universities and especially al-Ahzar University. Speaking about the existing majors at the Institute, J.Mammadov said that graduates can work in various government agencies, universities and religious organizations.

The delegation expressed their gratitude to AIT leadership and stressed that relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt are at high level, that these relations develop gradually and that establishing cooperation between the Egyptian and Azerbaijani universities are of great importance.

The delegation then met with the teaching staff of the Institute. Jeyhun Mammadov delivered a welcoming speech and emphasized the importance of the meeting.
Al-Sayyid Mahmoud Al-Sharif, First deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Egypt, shared his impressions about Azerbaijan in his speech. He expressed his satisfaction with being a guest at AIT, meeting with students and wished success to the Institute.

Welcoming the event participants, Usama Al-Azhari, Egyptian Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs, gave a detailed overview of the history of al-Azhar University, the developmental stages, majors and subjects taught. He noted that along with Sharia, the University also teaches secular and secular subjects. He said that admitting students from different world countries, the University receives students from Iraq, Nigeria, Sudan, Somalia, India, Yemen and the Caucasus region. Emphasizing that university students are educated in an environment that respects other religions and sects, Usama Al-Azhari, Advisor for Religious Affairs, wished success to AIT and advised students strive for unity and equality.

Usama Al Abd, Head of the Religious and Endowments Affairs Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, Former rector of al-Azhar University, also stressed the importance of the meeting and noted that Egypt is not just a friendly country, it is a brother country for Azerbaijan. Expressing satisfaction with the meeting, the former rector wished them success.

At the end, Jeyhun Mammadov delivered a concluding speech thanking the delegation.

After the meeting, the delegation members familiarized themselves with the Library and Information Center of the Institute.
