AIT Students visit the Institute of Manuscripts

Students of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) under the guidance of Student Scientific Society (SSS) visited the Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

Students familiarized themselves with valuable works in Turkish, Arabic and Persian languages on the science and culture of the peoples living in the Middle East and North Africa as well as personal documents of prominent scholars and cultural figures of the 19th and 20th centuries, newspapers and journals, microfilms and photos.

During the acquaintance with the ancient manuscripts, students were informed about Nur Alishah Isfahani, Nakhshavi Ziyaaddin, Ibrahim Haggi, Abu Jafar ibn Mohammad Tabari, Mohammad Fuzuli, Seyid Mohammad Urfi Shirazi, Bavaziji , Ahmad Nadim, Abdurahman Jami, Omar Khayyam Nishapuri, Amir Khosrov Dahlavi, Hafiz Shirazi, Saib Tabrizi, Assar Tabrizi, Nasraddin Tusi, Mahsati Ganjavi, Alishir Navai, Mirkhond Mahammad ibn Khavandshah, Seyid Azim Shirvani, Abbasgulu agha Bakikhanov and other great scholarly and cultural figures at the exposition hall operating since 1982.

Students were familiarized with the system of preservation and restoration of the materials at the Institute of Manuscripts as well as with the work experience of the laboratory staff.

Students were also informed about the most prominent calligraphers and artists of the 16th century who worked in the royal palace in Tabriz and in Qazvin such as Sultan Mohammad, Mir Musavvir, Mirza Ali Tabrizi, Mir Seyid Ali, Muzaffar Ali, Mahammadi, Sadig bay Afshar, Siyavush bay, Mir Zeynalabdin and others.

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology conducts various activities to enrich students’ world outlook and intellectual level, increase their interest in research activities, and ensure their active use of libraries.
