AIT organizes a series of events on Khojaly genocide in Istanbul

Azerbaijan Institute of Theology organizes series of events on the Khojaly genocide in Istanbul, Turkey. The next event was held in Archers Foundation.
The event started with a photo exhibition dedicated to the Khojaly genocide.

One minute of silence was held to remember the victims of the Khojali genocide. Then National Anthems of Azerbaijan and Turkey were performed.

Speaking at the event, Haydar Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Beyoglu Municipality, said that the Khojaly genocide is remembered in Turkey a nationwide tragedy and an unforgettable grief. He said that this grief will last in people’s heart forever.

Mustafa Demirelli, Head of the Beyoglu Executive Body, thoroughly analyzed the past events and emphasized the importance of educating our youth. He called on the peoples of the world to raise their voice for the tragedy and against terrorism, especially Armenian vandalism.

Masim Hajiyev, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul reviewed the chronology of historical events, “The massacres committed against Azerbaijani Turks in Karabakh in 1905, Baku in 1918 and Khojaly in 1992 cannot be separated from each other; all are crimes committed by the Armenian separatist terrorists for the same purpose. The Armenians, betraying the Ottoman Empire, which fought on three fronts in the First World War, committed crimes and further continued it in the lands of Azerbaijan.” Touching upon the details of the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians, Consul General M. Hajiyev thanked Turkey for keeping the tragedy on the agenda.

Jezmi Bayram, Head of the Istanbul Department of Turkish Hearths, mentioned the consistent genocide against the Turkish nation by Armenians, peaceful population of Azerbaijan and the Khojaly tragedy. Jezmi Bayram emphasized the importance of the role of social media and students in the promotion of this event.

Agil Shirinov, AIT Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, analyzed Armenian atrocities from the historical point of view. He mentioned the facts of the Khojali genocide, murder of women, old men, and children with cruelty. A. Shirinov also mentioned the events of March 31, committed by Armenians and their supporters against Azerbaijani Turks and destruction of hundreds of villages and settlements atrocity. He noted that Armenians have been hostile to the Turkish-Muslim population throughout history.

Sariya Jafarova, Chair of the Recognition of Armenian Aggression Community, veteran of the Karabakh war, mentioned the book They will Never Grow up that deals with the destiny of 63 children killed in Khojaly. S.Jafarova informed the participants about the official and hidden facts concerning the genocide. The facts told by the people who were the witnesses of the event, who lived through this tragedy and who had been captured and survived.

The documentary Khojali, the Dark Night was also screened at the event. The film presents the interviews of the witnesses who lived through the tragedy.
