SYO Chair Elections at AIT have been finalized

Elections to Student Youth Organization (SYO) Chair position at Azerbaijan Institute of Theology have been finalized.

Fidan Yusifova, Head of the Department of Graduate Studies and Reseach, welcomed the participants and congratulated the newly elected SYO chair wishing him success in his future activities. F. Yusifova expressed her confidence that there are many potential students at the Institute and that they would actively participate in SYO projects as well as the public life of the educational institution. She noted that the Institute has joined Bir Student-Volunteer project just a few days ago to encourage young people to participate in volunteer activities, work hard for the development of our country and represent Azerbaijan at local and international events.

Faig Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union, noted that the primary goal of the organization is to represent and protect the interests of students in the implementation of state youth policy as well as ensure their active participation in social, cultural and economic life of the republic.

ASYOU Chairman noted that elections held at the Institute were transparent and that students were actively involved in the process. He noted that during the first SYO elections in the country, students voted after the candidates made their platforms. F.Mammadov wished success to the newly elected the students.

Mirniyaz Mursalov, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, mentioned the significance of the SYO activities and the state care for youth and education in Azerbaijan. Emphasizing that the Institute has implemented a variety of projects to effectively organize students’ leisure time, enrich their world outlook and develop polemic skills, the Dean said that AIT administration always welcomes student initiatives.

The candidates Aytaj Mustafali, Hasan Isayev, Nijat Huseynov and Aysu Alizade had previously delivered speeches. Nijat Huseynov, a first-year student of the Faculty of Theology, has been elected the new chairman of the AIT SYO.

Established on the basis of voluntary principles, the Organization aims to increase the activity of young people in the public life of the educational institutions, protect their rights, ensure their interests, organize students’ leisure time activities, intellectual development as well as establish close relations between groups and faculties.
